Givism? I'm pretty sure that word is NOT on the SATs....where did you find it and what does it mean?

• Our high school English teachers probably wouldn't be too proud of us for this, BUT, we actually coined the term Givism to express a novel concept, namely, how one can help give necessary aid to those who need it the most without taking away what they can't afford to lose themselves.

Are you saying that Givism.com will never ask me for any money, yet somehow it still plans on generating millions of dollars to donate to charity? 

• Yes, we will never ask anyone who uses Givism.com to donate any money to the site, however, whenever you click on one of the links provided on the main page, advertisers pay us for showcasing their companies.  Then, we donate 100% of the profits from what the advertiser gave us to charity.

That sounds great, but I'm still not sure I understand how I can help.  What can I do?

• If possible, please set the default homepage of your Internet browser to www.givism.com, and then, if the main page of Givism.com has the name of the site you want to go to, simply click on the link.  That's all!  Also, if you decide to set Givism.com as your homepage, please send a quick blank email to MyNewHomepage@givism.com; we ask simply because our advertisers pay us partly based on how many people are using Givism.com - the higher the number, the more our advertisers pay us, and the more we can donate to charity.
• Basically, whenever you sit down at the computer, try to make Givism.com the first website you go to, and then go from there.  We've tried to include a mix of the most popular sites, as well as some sites you may not have previously heard of, but which you may find interesting.  We understand how busy you are, but if you do have a free minute or two, please visit some of the sites listed here even if you may not have heard of them before.  We're sure you'll find some that are new and exciting, and that you'll be happy you discovered.

How do I make sure that the first Internet site I see is always Givism.com?

• There are two ways.  First, you can simply type in www.givism.com into your address bar whenever you launch your Internet browser. 
• Second, and what we recommend, is to set your default homepage to Givism.com.  To do that, if you're using Microsoft Explorer as your Internet browser, click on 'Tools' near the top left part of your browser screen.  Then click on the last item in the 'Tools' list, which will be 'Internet Options.'  Now a small screen will pop up, with several tabs.  One of those tabs should say 'General.'  On the 'General' screen you will see a section called 'Home page.'  Click inside the box and replace the website in that box with www.givism.com.  Then click 'Ok' down below and you're all set!

Will setting Givism.com as my homepage be dangerous or slow down my connection speed?

• Not at all.  We have made sure that Givism.com is 100% safe to use, by only having widely-used and widely-trusted websites listed on the site. 
• As far as speed goes, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.  We could have filled Givism.com with fancy graphics and sounds, but the last thing we wanted to do was take away from your Internet browsing experience.  So, we kept Givism.com as simple and straightforward to use as possible, and have helped keep your browsing speed as fast as can be.

Do you expect me to donate money to Givism.com or to the charities Givism.com supports?

• No, we will never ask you to donate a single dollar to Givism.com, or expect you to donate to any charity through Givism.com.  The fact is that by simply using Givism.com you will help our goal of donating millions of dollars to charity. 

 Does Givism.com donate 100% of the profits it makes to charity, or does it try to keep profit for itself?

• Givism.com is a not-for-profit site.  Givism.com donates 100% of its profits to charity.

Which charities and not-for-profit organizations does Givism.com donate to?

• Givism.com only supports internationally recognized organizations whose primary objective is to do charitable work to help alleviate many of the great problems affecting our world today, such as child poverty, disease, malnutrition, illiteracy, and a lack of the basic elements needed for survival, like clean drinking water, electricity, and essential healthcare and medicines. 
• 100% of the profits that Givism.com generates are divided evenly amongst these charities.  Please see the complete list of organizations Givism.com donates its profits to in the Giving section.

When did Givism.com launch?

• Givism.com launched in late 2007 but before that we spent many months conducting focus groups to make sure we would offer the sites you most want in a way you would most enjoy. 
• We've already been in the process of testing Givism.com with thousands of people, and we're hoping that you and everyone you know will begin to use the site so that, together, we can achieve our goal of donating millions of dollars to charity in the months and years ahead!

• We would love to hear from you with any thoughts, suggestions, or questions you may have!  Please feel free to email us at admin@givism.com.  While we will try our best to reply to every email we get, please understand if sometimes it takes a few days to respond, as we get a high volume of supportive emails but try to maintain a very small staff to keep our costs as low as possible and the profits we can donate to charities as high as possible.
